September was a month to revere, remember and recognize. On Sunday,
September 11th, the 4th anniversary of “911”, we
took a moment to remember our countrymen who lost their lives on that
day. We silently prayed for the victims of Hurricane Katrina and wished
them a bright future to recovery. But in our own Chapter, we recognized
and honored our Co=Worker, Gail O’Toole, who rightly so, earned her
College Degree at the International Convention in June, in Las Vegas. A
special enrollment of the College of Regents was held in her honor. Even
though she should have been recognized in the last bulletin we tried to
make it up on “her day”, Sunday, September 11th. Gail served
her chapter as Senior Regent along with her Board of Officers and
Committee Chairmen; she earned the Mooseheart “Award of Achievement”. Gail
went on to fulfill her obligation as Junior Graduate Regent and faithfully
worn her green cap, as required. Gail has joined a special group of
distinction within our lodge and nationally, as a member of the College of
Regents. Congratulations to Gail O’Toole for earning this honor and her
contributions and commitment to out chapter. Also, recognized for their
achievements on September 11th, were fellow College members,
Gloria Ebersole for earning her red tassel and Helen Dubrock for earning
her red stole, congratulations to them both
On
her way “up the ladder” to the next degree, Agnes Smith earned the chapter
award of achievement and was given her green cap at the State Convention
to qualify for a trip to International next May in Chicago.
In
September, the Health Awareness committee and the Ritual Teams sponsored a
Luau. In October, the Youth Involvement committee sponsored and
Oktoberfest, which was a new addition this year. The traditional
Halloween dance was held later in the month and featured many funny and
unusual costumes. It wouldn’t be October without the annual “Children’s
Halloween Party”, done with the hard work of Cathy Cox, Tracy Singleton,
Trish Keller, Steven Eversole and company. The children and grandchildren
of our members look forward to this event every year.
Please read your bulletin for all of the upcoming events and remember
there is always something for everyone at our Merritt Island Moose Lodge.
Fraternally,
Sue
